Today is last nite of Nguyen

I have been following Nguyen's case from around 3+ months, He is Australian citizen and was caught in 2002 on Changi airport, Singapore with around 400gms of heroin(~26000 normal doses) and will be executed tomorrow morning(hang till death).
Till a week back I was thinking because of extra-ordinary efforts from Australian media(mainly smh and age ) and even oz'y govt. lobbying he will not be executed and will get clemency and life in prison, but Singapore is firm on his decision of death penalty even though Australians was lobbying real hard for him, indeed they threaten Singapore by putting trade sanctions against him and they even knocked the doors of U.N and international media but all in vain! Now from last 2-3 days Australians lobbied for his mother to hug him before his execution, even John Howard made a personal request for this to Singapore PM but no success, Though I am glad they are allowing Nguyen to hold hands of his mom and brother's, here and here is the news story about it.

No doubt Singapore is strict country, but in this case to me it looks like they was try'g to show also that w/e they have done till now was correct...execution looks like too hard punishment for nguyen who don't have any criminal record as well as his first crime that too didn't hurted anyone.
Also I would like to see one more political leader now in Amnesty's candle Ad
