joining the IM islands

Couple of hours while I was jogging around my condominium, just to make sure that I don't have any regret on monday morning about not working out this weekend too; While I see some friend of mine talking to our another friend in Denmark and suddenly a thought come in my mind, how come these differnt mobile providers are able to talk to each other, well, reply is surely simple, they have to comply to standards else they will loose business, now another thought comes in my mind why is it tak'g forever to join the IM networks, this is really unfair to isolate millions of people in peaces, though jabber is really good start, but it is not backed by any major IM network and neither any govt. so it might take forever for world to migrate to this protocol and companies like AOL,Yahoo,MSN,ICQ are going to make this client better and better but will not open there network, and surely they don't view any economic benefit, while in truth there can be alot of not only social benefits but economic benefits and VOIP over it can be like bless directly from god, so I come back from jogg and after quick bath get stick to my system again and try to search if this was any time in past planned or any organization is try'g to make sure all they can communicate, and I get this beautiful story according to which yahoo and msn might open gates to each other by mid nxt year, here is the link, this news truly put a light in my eyes, atleast things have started to change now, hopefully one day all IM networks in the world will be able to interact to each other as smoothly as a call from one mobile operator to another mobile operator.
